Our client is a multinational company which offers shipbuilding and vessel repair services and manufactures towing tugs, work and crew boats, and offshore service vessels

Material Groups/ Categories
    All components needed in the shipbuilding & repair business, hardware like steel, forging and casting parts, mechanical and electrical components, equipment for welding and piping, as well as industrial services like engineering and blue collar workers

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of project purchases and buyers
  • Supervising and conducting the procurement and supply chain process for components/ systems and outsourcing activities
  • Negotiate important supplier contracts with international/ national suppliers and subcontractors
  • Initiate market research and enhance supplier development to build a strategic supplier base
  • Drive cost and price reduction activities
  • Monitor and report on cost trends for key commodities
  • Set up proposals for standardization, develop framework contracts
  • Provide progress and financial project reports
  • Define and monitor the inbound and outbound supply chain process
  • Work closely together with the internal stakeholders like management, engineering, logistics, sales etc.


Education Graduate education in mechanical or industrial engineering or business administration
Job experience
  • Broad experience and competencies in the project business in an international environment. Experience with international contract management, good negotiation skills, professional in procurement and supply chain
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in procurement and/ or supply chain management in a technical environment
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience and leadership skills
Competence Requirements
  • Experience with complex projects and project management
  • Strong negotiation skills in combination with an independent, well structured hands-on mentality
  • Substantive knowledge of/ experience with strategic sourcing principles
  • Intercultural mindset and working experience with an international team
  • Ability to frequently travel long distances and work abroad
Language skills English fluently
